FAQs

How long does it take you to write a book?

Generally, it takes me about six months to complete a book in a series between releases. This is because the book must first be written in about three or four months. Then, there are alpha and beta readers while the cover is being made, and then the copy editor does the final polishing before the book is released.

Will there be sequels or a series for your current books?

The short answer is yes. The long answer is that I currently have content for over 13 books for this particular universe. The Life Weaver is the first book of the Scarred Realms Series. In total, there will be six books in this series. While I work on the second book of this series, I am also working on a novella series of four books, which will help fill in on some short stories surrounding this series and universe, answering questions about the lore and events that are referred to but do not happen in the book. I will not share more than that. I will leave you to speculate about what these might be!

What’s the best way to support you as an author?

There are many ways!

1) Buy the book in your preferred format: e-book, paperback, or Kindle Unlimited.

2) Leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon. Help other readers find me!

3) Tell friends and family about my books. Let’s get them hooked on the story and world!

4) Keep a lookout for potential events happening!

5) If you’re artsy, I invite you to create fan art and tag me on it! I might approach you to feature some of the best ones on the website!

Where can I buy your books?

Currently, the only place to buy the book is on your local Amazon marketplace or Kindle store. However, I am working on a few other leads to expand the reach of my books. Soon, will also be looking to sell the book on this website.

Since I am based in the Netherlands, I am also approaching some local bookstores to get my books sold there. It will also be available on several Dutch online stores like Bol.com.

In the future, I will also look to expand my book sales with Draft2Digital to make my book available on Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and Google Books, among others. Stay tuned!

Why did you go indie and not with a publisher?

I began my writing journey without considering finding a literary agent or publisher. I first became inspired to write when I discovered Amazon KDP. Whether I will eventually go with an agent or publisher is still an open door, but for the moment, I wanted to share my book with the world as fast as possible, which meant doing things on my own. But who knows what the future will bring?

What tools did you use to write your books?

I began writing this book during my commute to work. It took me a little over an hour and a half one-way between busses, trains, and metro. This meant time that I would otherwise not be writing. This was when a remarkable discovery changed the game for me: Reedsy.com. Finding and using Reedsy meant I could now take my writing and book with me on my commute, writing on the go using my mobile phone. Yes, you read that right. During my commute, I wrote about 70% of my book on the phone. I will say that I am not immune to grammar autocorrects and misspellings when writing on smartphones, so it also meant checking my work and word counts on a PC later at home in the evenings.

After some time, and once I was almost finished with my book, I transferred it to MS Word since I would need to have it in that format for my copy editor to review it. It was also how I shared the book with my alpha, beta, and proofreaders leading up to my copy editor. It made tracking changes and receiving feedback and suggestions a lot easier.

Finally, I stumbled upon my latest acquisition, the tool I am now using for my upcoming books and the tool I used to polish the last finishing touches on The Life Weaver: Atticus.io.

For me, Atticus was another game-changer. It offered similar utilities to Reedsy but more formatting options to make the book look nice on the inside for the final versions that you, the readers, would see.

Do you plan to write in other genres?

I might do this a bit further down the road, but the short answer is yes. I would eventually like to tackle a few other genres under other brands. That said, my heart belongs to fantasy, so this would likely only be a side project since my main passion would be growing this world and series. I might discover other narratives and stories to tell within this universe!
